Projector Screen Fabric Guide: How to Choose the Right One
A fast, practical way to narrow down fabric choice by room type, rather than by specification sheet.
Start With Your Room's Light Control
A fully darkened, dedicated room can use a standard front-projection white fabric near 1.0 gain without issue. A room with some ambient light — most living rooms and offices — benefits from an ALR fabric instead.
Decide If You Need Sound Through the Screen
If a centre-channel speaker needs to sit directly behind the screen — common in home theatre builds — you need an acoustically transparent (perforated or woven) fabric. Otherwise, a standard solid fabric is simpler and typically more affordable.
