What Is a UST ALR Screen?
Built specifically for ultra short throw projectors sitting inches from the screen.
What UST Means
UST stands for ultra short throw — a projector class designed to sit just inches below or in front of the screen rather than several metres back, typically on a low console or table. These projectors need a screen fabric engineered for a steep reflection angle, which a standard screen surface isn't optimised for.
Why ALR Is Usually Paired With UST
UST projector setups are common in living rooms and open spaces where full light control isn't practical, which is exactly where ambient light rejection matters most. That's why our UST ALR screen combines both: a fabric structure tuned for a steep-angle reflection, engineered to reject ambient light from other directions.
UST ALR vs Standard ALR
A standard ALR screen is tuned for a projector at a normal throw distance and angle. Using it with a UST projector, or vice versa, mismatches the fabric's reflective angle to the light source and gives uneven brightness across the image — the two are not interchangeable.
Choosing the Right Setup
If you already own or are planning a UST projector, confirm the matching UST ALR screen size against your projector's throw ratio using the screen calculator's throw distance field before ordering.
